I've got a couple of big project coming up, in the meantime I'll give you this crop of a scraped project that didn't turn out so well. I'll probably move this to scraps later as well - but it's a lil teaser of what's to come.

And NO, the light source is NOT that cluster of stars - but just outside of the picture :)

Update: Composition changed, enhanced starfield, changed the sharpness (a bit oversharpened before)

Also: Higher resolution for wallie: 1920x1080 download.

That starfield is one of the most beautiful starfields I've seen in a very long time. Excellent work on that, mate!

Kinda lazy looking compared your standard :/

Everything looks very 2-d...

I like the idea of the style of the source of light from the left though.

Ah well, glad you're being honest :)

As I've said, it's part of a bigger project of which this is a cropped piece from one of the corners. I kinda like it though. But you're right, it's not really up to par with some other recent works :/ I might move it to scraps eventually.

If this is but the corner, then I look forward to seeing the entire project (:

Just continue progressing like you are and I'll gladly keep watching for your new work :)

I think the noise in the background is too heavy. Look at the top half, where it's most noticeable. In my opinion, it is so strong that it contrasts too heavily with the planets' textures.

It's pretty good, I mean I really do like the composition and the colors, the starfield and nebula in the background look great. It's just that I think it could be better as more of a uniform image. For example, the edges of the planets are very distinct, they are so sharp that they don't blend in with the rest of the image at all (at full resolution, anyway).

I'm not sure how much right I have to critique, I just hope I'm helping somehow.

You're absolutely right. It happened during compression, the original piece is nowhere close as noisy as this one, nor have the sharp planet edges. I was lazy when I put it up and didn't actually check the compression result. I might fix it.

A bit on the grainy-looking side, but I like the flow of it. I wish I could do this well.

The planets still came out pretty well though, but the star clusters are definetily the most refined feature I think 8-)

I absolutely love the lighting on the planets - especially on the large one, which really makes the smaller moon stand out. This is a really great piece! :)
