Rushed this a bit in the end. Might take a look at it over the next week or so, to see if there's something I want to change about it.

stock from www.extremeinstability.com

update: Removed sunbeams, changed some lightning on one of the planets and dimmed the stars some.

UPDATE: Fixed some details that has been bothering me ever since I uploaded this one. I first had in mind doing quite a big overhaul, but I figured it be unfair to the piece, and just adjusted what really bugged me.

I had an idea similar to this several years ago. Very interesting to see some one attempt it. You put a visual to that idea. A great bit of inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks a lot, warms my heart :)

This picture is no stock picture, I kinda need to know more about the project before I can say anything. As a rule of thumb I only allow uploaded pieces to be used in other peoples work if I submitted it to the "stock" category. I have made exceptions in the past though...

This is a neat piece - one I hadn't seen before when I went on a mad, whirlwind tour through your gallery. I really like the textures on the cloud/nebula thing. It looks almost *fuzzy*.

Haha, I recognise those "mad, whirlwind tours", you do tend to miss some nice pieces though. I usually go back and re-examine the galleries of people I watch every once in a while for just that reason ;)

Glad you liked this one, it's over two years old, and the actual update is over 1 years old, didn't get around to submitting it until now though.

You did not need to but thank you.

I adore this piece - its space but not as we have seen it.

Stirring stuff - mate I cannot emphasise how good this piece is.

Makes one feel small in the eye of the cosmos.

How many artists can do that?!

Brilliant

This is amazing and terrible all at once. The clouds and general stage of this scene is absolutely stunning, but once you implemented the small neighboring stars and planets, I think it really lets down on the overall quality of this piece. The planets feel stamped in place, and the stars are strangely lit (aside from the main large star which looks stunning). I also feel the stars should be much more minimized to keep the main focus in point rather than having my eye jump from star to dismal star.

For such a dramatic scene and such dramatic lighting, the planets really do look fake and it lets this piece down significantly. I am extremely disappointed with the overall finished product of this.

That being said, the atmosphere and general stratospheric look and feel of the background is absolutely stunning and if you took out all of the bad planets and stars, I would definitely use this as a wallpaper. :+fav:

Hope you receive this as constructive criticism instead of pointless babbling.

You were right in much of your critique, and I appreciated it even though I never answered to it. I hope at least a few mistakes have been corrected.

What if you lived on one of those planets, and what if at some point it got enveloped by that big cloud? What would happen?
