Started out as planet practice - thought I'd put a background on it and submit it as a wallie. Hope somebody likes it :)

1920x1200 download

The original file is almost twice as big, so if you want other resolutions give me a shout.

The original planet was 8000x8000 in size for added quality.

Edit: Changed the lightning on the ring somewhat, added lakes on the planet and removed some obvious fractal patterns.

Sorry ppl, but the ugly white light will remain :P

This photo is stunning, it's breath-taking even. I love the fact that you used plenty of stars, more than enough to wish upon. The unfamiliar planet, to me, resembles an out-of-universe feeling; a place where imagination lingers and reality is unheard of. The twinkling stars give the cold, space feeling a turn for the best. If dreams could be painted then this would be damned near the result.

I adore this picture, it must have taken a lot of time and effort, something you don't see too much of nowadays. Thank you so much for sharing this with our world.

I honestly don't have any criticism for this picture, the light is fairly balanced and the stars don't seem to have a pattern.

very nice. i like the planet a lot. I do think it needs some more diversity in the background. Such as colors within the same scheme (purple, pink, blues) and add some red giants or other colored stars. !

This is so totally awesome dude.

The only thing I have a problem with are the larger stars, they just look slightly out of place.
