Made this on my laptop using my mousepad on a bumpy three hours train ride to my parents. An additional hour or so of postwork once I got on solid ground. Not really a speed-paint, but close to. Quite satisfied considering.

I first meant to make this a very dark and desaturated piece - almost black & white. Just couldn't resist adding some nice blue hues in the last minute to spice it up. Good or bad move, what do you think?

Resolution 1920x1200 - if you want other resolutions, give me a shout.

Download for fullview (and 1920x1200 wallie)

Comments are more than welcome, it's whats keep me going! :)

Edit: Some color changes, less color contrasts, a bit more boring perhaps? Looks a bit neater though I think.

Thanks man. The textures of the planets are by far the most complex elements of the piece, so glad you like it :)

It's actually partly a lie - the textures that make up the both planets were largely pre-made some days prior. But turning the textures into planets, composing the piece and drawing the nebulae and star scape was made in roughly 3-4 hours. :)

Thanks man! And I...might...agree ;) I tend to like over-glowing star scapes. If you look at some of my previous pieces like; [link] and [link] you see I favor glow over crispness. Many of my recent pieces started out with very "glowy" star scape, but these were tuned downed as progress and thought went forward. As this is a relatively quick piece, it never developed beyond the glowy star scape - but halted where I initially and usually start out - glowy glowy glowy ;)

Glow is good, but too much makes it seem blurry instead of glowy or gassy. Try lightening the opacity, you get the best of both aspects.

Thanks man - as stated in the artist comment section, comments like yours is what keeps me going. That said, I do agree with you. Texturing and atmosphere work are among the foremost aspects I do feel somewhat content with. With time I might venture, delve and improve on other areas as well :)

What part of the comments comment do you agree with by the way?
