Alright, I'm arranging a small contest for all of my watchers (and whomever happens to stumble across this journal). The goal is to create my ID for 2011. Simply because my old one is ugly and outdated. The ID should represent my art in a stylish and alluring manner.
By large this is more of a design contest than an art contest (which is great, because it means almost anyone with a picture editing program can partake).
I could of course design my own ID, but I thought this would be fun. Also, the prizes are stuff I would want to do, but never get around to doing - but this way I will be compelled to. Which would be great both for me, you and the rest of the community...
Contest time
A month. From today until the 25th of may.
Instructions
- Upload the piece before the deadline on either a 3rd party site or in your scraps before the deadline.
- Send me a note with the url.
- After the 25th of may you may upload it to your gallery or do whatever you want with it. Side from using it commercially (however you could possibly do that), or claim that my art is your art
Requirements
- Art from my gallery needs to be the center of attention in the piece
- Other stock might be used at will, but credits must be given
- This is foremost a design contest, not a photo-manipulation contest - so I prefer my own art to be relatively unaltered (go wild cropping, cutting, resizing and designing though
- Any and all resolutions are fine
- No text, name or title required (unless you want to)
- The piece shouldn't have any watermark or artist signature - but you will of course be credited on the actual deviation when I upload it to my own gallery
Prizes
There will be one OR two winners in this contest. There's a first place and a runner up - the first prize will only be given if I deem one of the submissions good enough to be used. In that case the runner up will be the second best piece. In the case there's no piece I really don't want to use - there will still be a runner up winner, and prizes given away
All contestants that enter will get a journal feature when the contest comes to an end (of both their entry and a piece that I select from their gallery).
First prize
The winner may choose one(!) of the following things to be submitted to him/her personally - with copyrights given away and a free for use in any and all works:
* A high res planet stock (layered psd or transparent jpg)
* A small fractal pack
* A small asteroid pack
* A high res star field stock
* A commission piece of print size (you can obviously not pass this forward as your own) (subject will be space and of my own choosing) (I will upload it to my own gallery, but the print size will be reserved the winner)
On top of this the winner may also choose a prize from the runner up category.
Runner up
The runner up won't get a personal prize, however he or she may choose something for me to upload for the community as a whole. As with the winner, you need to pick one(!) of the following:
* A high res planet stock (layered psd or transparent jpg)
* A walk-through on my next piece
* A nebulae brush pack
* A star brush pack
* A high res planet pack
* A fractal pack
* An asteroid pack
* A tutorial (I'll pick the subject myself - but you're free to come with suggestions, but there's things I simply can't do and things I can't explain in text).
It'll be interesting to see how many (if any) that enters this
